Police have reacted to a video circulating in which a man was shot dead by alleged SARS officer. The video started with a scene where some young men were being held at gun point by some men in police uniform.
Next to come into the picture was a police officer who was dragging a man dressed in white top and trouser. Moments later, a shot rang out and the new entrant (the man being dragged by the police officer) went down apparently after a bullet hit him. It was not clear if the young man attempted to flee from the policemen when he was shot.
The incident was reported to have occurred in Benin, Edo state capital.
The video which is trending online has generated comments with Nigerians calling attention to police brutality despite the re-organisation of SARS by the new IG
However, the police, while reacting to the video wrote on twitter that the incident is being investigated.
One of the tweets from the police read: "The @PoliceNG FPRO ACP Frank Mba is personally interested in finding the exact details of what happened here to enable the Force take appropriate actions.
In another tweet, the police said: "RT: We’ve viewed a viral video purported to be @PoliceNG officers & an alleged gunshot sound.
